The Trusts, Estates and Estate Planning practice of O'Connell and Aronowitz provides individuals with sophisticated estate planning, including the preparation of wills and trusts; administration of estates, designation of beneficiaries of insurance and employee death benefits; and analysis of the estate, gift and income tax consequences of an estate plan. Our attorneys are experienced in the creation of insurance trusts, credit shelter and bypass trusts, QTIP and QDOT trusts, Medicaid trusts, and charitable trusts. We represent trusts, estates and the affected parties through probate and in such matters as trust and estate litigation and will contests.
Our attorneys work closely with your accountant, insurance agent, financial advisor and other professionals to draft complex wills and trust agreements and to plan for the disabled and elderly. We are experienced in addressing the complexities of federal Medicare and Medicaid laws and regulations. Our attorneys assist our clients in planning for long-term care, both for themselves and their dependents. We also assist individuals in executing healthcare proxies, living wills and related advance directives concerning their future medical treatment.
We provide assistance regarding the tax consequences the estate plan to minimize your tax costs; and prepare estate tax and estate income tax returns. Our attorneys regularly give seminars to local community groups on trusts and estate planning.
Our attorneys are active members of the Elder Law Section of the NYS Bar Association, the Trusts, Estates and Elder Law section of the New York State Bar Association, and the Trusts, Estates and Taxation section of the Albany County Bar Association.
